Dave Marr Jr.

Runner-up in the Masters Tournament in 1964. PGA Golfer of the Year and member of the Ryder Cup team in 1965. Non-playing captain of the Ryder Cup team in 1981. Dave is second cousin to Jack Burke, Jr. and Dave’s father was once as assistant pro under Burke’s father at River Oaks Country Club. Dave Marr Jr. took head pro jobs at Baytown Country Club and Beaumont Country Club before returning to River Oaks and serving under Sam Schniede.

Dave Marr Jr. is a man on the go. In 1977, Golf Digest Magazine named him Best Broadcaster. Dave was a part-timer on the Senior Tour. He was also a partner of Jay Riviere in the golf course architecture business in Houston. Dave has been one of the world’s leading golf commentators for ABC Sports since the early 1970s. He also served as Tournament Director for the Nabisco Dinah Shore tournament on the LPGA Tour.
