Don Massengale

Old golfers don’t fade away, they find new life on the Champion’s Tour. As a Senior Tour rookie in 1987, Don Massengale played in 20 events and earned a top five finish at the U.S. Senior Open, plus a tie for 10th in the Mazda TPC. Since then Don has earned over three times his total earnings as a member of the regular PGA tour.

Massengale won his first Senior Tour event in 1990 and had three top 10 finishes. Massengale won the Southwestern Conference Championships as a Texas Christian University Horned Frog in 1958. That same year he also won the Texas State Amateur title. Turning pro in 1960, Massengale won two regular PGA Tour events, the 1966 Bing Crosby National Pro-Am and the Canadian Open. His regular PGA Tour earning totaled $193,877. Don left the tour and held club jobs at Elmwood CC (White Plains NY), River Plantation CC (Conroe TX), Harlingen (TX) CC, and the Club Del Lago, also near Conroe. Don also won the National Club pro title in 1972.
