Collegiate/Amateur
- Played golf at the University of Houston

- 1983 Third Place Team Finish at NCAA National Championship
- 1984 Fall Southwest Conference Individual Champion and NCAA Team Champion
- 1985 NCAA Champions.
- Four-time All Southwest Conference
- Four-time NCAA All American
- 1982 Bill Ennis Award recognizing city of Houston athlete of the year
- Member of the US All-Star Team vs. Japan matches in 1983
High School
- As a member of the Dulles High School team; 1979 Texas Regional High School Champions 1980 and 1981 Regional and State of Texas Champions
Professional/Personal
- Brown won three PGA Tour events in a career cut short by an injury and subsequent surgeries to his wrist. His best finish in a major championship was T-3 at the 1990 U.S. Open, one stroke out of the playoff. He had 17 top-10 finishes in 315 PGA Tour events.
- After his playing days ended, Brown moved into the media to serve as an on-course reporter for ABC Sports from 1999 until 2006. In 2007, Brown joined the Golf Channel as an on-course reporter for their PGA Tour and Champions Tour coverage.
