Biography

Dow Finsterwald, Jr., was born in 1959 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Dow and Linda Finsterwald. His family later moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1962 where his father was the Director of Golf at the Broadmoor. Dow Jr. worked for Dow Sr in various roles including caddying, working the driving range, and helping guests with their arrivals and departures.

After attending Cheyenne Mountain High School, Dow Jr. attended college at Arizona State University, graduating in 1981. The next year, he was hired by Oak Tree Country Club as an assistant golf professional. As an assistant in Oklahoma City, Dow won the assistants championship in 1986 as well as several one-day assistants’ tournaments. In 1987, Dow’s life changed dramatically. He was hired by Colonial Country Club as their Head Golf Professional, and he served in that capacity until 2021.

Dow, Jr. has been the host PGA professional for 33 PGA Tour events and one Women’s U.S Open. With 700 golf members at an 18-hole course, he was kept very busy throughout the year. Dow has played in Four Joe Black Cup matches, as well as winning the Metro Chapter Championship in 1990 and Club Professional Championship in 1991. As a player, Dow has also qualified for the Byron Nelson Professional Championship and played in three Colonial National Invitationals.

Dow has two children, Dow Finsterwald, III and Katy. He also has two grandchildren: Avery and Addison. He and his wife of 12 years, Toni, his children, and grandchildren all live in Texas.
