Biography
Affectionately, known as "Big E," Eldridge Miles has spent more than 50 years as a PGA golf professional in Dallas. He served as the head professional at Dallas County Club, Bent Tree Country Club and Gleneagles Country Club. In 1978, he was the first recipient of the PGA of America/Sports Illustrated Merchandiser of the Year.
A personal friend and playing partner of Ben Hogan for 20 years, Big E gave golf lessons to the likes of Tom Landry, Roger Staubach, Don Meredith, Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Dan Reeves and Yogi Berra. More than 40 golf professionals who worked and were mentored by Miles also earned head golf professional positions in their careers.
His career distinctions include:

- 1961 &1962 Texas Assistant Professional Champion
- 1967 & 1968 U.S. Open Contestant
- 1970 & 1999 National PGA Championship Contestant
- 1976 NTPGA Section Champion
- 1976 & 1977 NTPGA Metro Chapter Player of the Year
- 1978 PGA/Sports Illustrated National Merchandiser of the Years, Private Club Category (Inaugural)
- 1979 NTPGA Golf Professional of the Year
- 1985 & 1987 NTPGA Seniors Champion
- 1987 Winner of the Alaskan Senior Open
- 1987 Horton Smith Award (Contributions to Golf)
- 1988 NTPGA Section Merchandiser of the Year-Private Category (Gleneagles CC)
