A Pro’s Pro

Ronny has spent his entire career at Sherrill Park in Richardson, first as an assistant pro from 1981-84, and then as head golf professional for the past nearly four decades. He has stayed loyal to the public course that hired him as head professional at the age of 25 and ultimately allowed him to be heavily involved in golf course renovations and redesigns over the years.

Ronny is a five-time Northern Texas PGA winner of the Bill Strausbaugh Award for outstanding integrity, commitment to mentoring his fellow PGA Professionals in improving their employment situations, and involvement in community and charitable activities.

It's Hammer Time

Ronny was selected as the Northern Texas PGA President twice (2006-07, 2018-19). He's the only pro ever to hold the position multiple times.

Nicknamed “The Hammer,” for his ability to get things done, the most notable accomplishment under Ronny’s leadership came in 2018 when the PGA of America announced its relocation to Frisco. The PGA Frisco campus also became the new home site for the Northern Texas PGA.

In addition to his terms as president, Ronny has served as the PGA section’s secretary and vice president, represented the NTPGA on the PGA of America’s Board from 2010-12 and been on numerous local and national committees over the years.

One Name Says It All

Opening in 2023, the NTPGA Golf Park in Frisco is officially named “The Ronny” Golf Park as a tribute to Ronny Glanton. The purpose of the golf park is to expand the NTPGA Foundation’s community outreach and growth of the game programs.

“The Ronny” is a two-acre, lighted golf park made entirely of fully synthetic turf, making it available for play in rain or shine, day or night. Designed with junior golfers in mind, its programming specifically targets middle school age kids and younger with group-based instruction and development with an emphasis on fun, enjoyment and graduation opportunities.

Keepsake

Regardless of how full a golfer's collection of honors might get there is always one keepsake or memento that has a significance above the rest. The most cherished artifact is more often personal and private and not the biggest trophy in the case.
